We can give you a fairly competitive salary in the amount of ฿30,000 - ฿45,000 on average. It also can be modified based on the credibility and experience you can provide for our business in accordance with our company HRD agreement.

Position Summary

Elementary School Instructional Assistantsprovide day-to-day assistance to teachers in supporting the academic and social-emotional needs of students.  In the elementary school, various IA roles include: homeroom classroom, HUB, Book Room, Learning Support, English as a Second Language, Visual Arts, Performing Arts (Music), World Languages, Physical Education, and MakerSpace/Science.

IA Responsibilities

Under the direction of the supervising teacher (s):

  • Assist in the creation of a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment for all students.
  • Implement positive classroom management strategies and support peer-to-peer problem solving and conflict resolution.
  • Support students with appropriate behavior in all school settings
  • Support differentiated learning of students in various settings:
    • Individualized instruction and support
    • Small group instruction (guided reading, strategy groups, interventions etc.)
    • Take over whole class instruction so teachers can engage in one-to-one or small group instruction when necessary
  • Assist in collecting and organizing student learning and assessment data.
  • Assist in the creation and preparation of learning activities and help with routine organizational tasks.
  • Communicate with classroom teachers regarding student learning & wellbeing.  
  • Foster student self-directedness through effective questioning skills.  
  • Supporting students with transitions throughout the day.  
  • Use technology as needed to support student learning.
  • Assist in setting up and facilitating instructional activities.
  • Respectfully interact with parents and in collaboration with teacher/supervisor.
  • Attend required meetings, participate in professional learning opportunities, and seek professional growth.
  • Perform morning, recess & lunch duties as assigned 
  • Attend annual field trips and special events as requested. 
  • Participate in the IA Supervision & Evaluation Process by demonstrating professional standards and developing, monitoring, and reviewing professional goals.
  • Comply with ISB policies, procedures and guidelines for professional conduct and health & safety.  Adhere to the Student Safeguarding policy and procedures, ISB Code of Conduct and the ISB Confidentiality Policy.

Additional Responsibilities for the following Instructional Assistant positions include:

PreK IA Responsibilities

  • Support students in developing personal care skills (toileting, hand-washing, etc.)
  • Assists in the development of a Reggio-inspired learning environment

 LS IA Responsibilities

  • Engage in additional professional learning opportunities as they relate to supporting specific learners (MAPA training, etc)
  • Provide direct support (academic, social and emotional, behavior, sensory, communication, etc) in a variety of settings (playground, classroom, transitions, specialist classes, cafeteria etc)
  • Facilitate positive engagement of specific learners through communication with other professionals working with the learners (other IAs, specialist teachers, substitutes, etc)
  • Building close relationships with learners with a nuanced understanding and recognition of the connection between a learner’s behavior and emotions
  • Strong listening and observational skills
  • Being flexible and willing to implement instruction when the LS teacher is unexpectedly pulled out of T3 class because of an emergent student need

EAL IA Responsibilities

  • Engage in additional professional learning opportunities as they relate to supporting students acquiring English as a Second Language
  • Building close relationships with EAL learners to help them feel comfortable taking risks with their language
  • Guide their language development in a wide variety of settings (homeroom classroom, EAL classroom, settings outside classroom, etc)
  • Differentiate instruction and provide language scaffolds to access classroom learning
  • Strong listening and observational skills
  • Being flexible and willing to implement instruction when the EAL teacher is unexpectedly pulled out of EAL classes because of an emergent student need
  • Use technology as needed to support student learning and student documentation (i.e. PowerSchool)
  • Communicate with EAL and classroom teachers about students’ language needs

IA Qualifications and Key Attributes

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience working with elementary aged children; EAL and LS experience desirable
  • Skills in the area of small group instruction, especially in the area of Literacy and Math
  • Experience working with similar aged children in a school setting
  • Knowledgeable about child development
  • Ability to work with students using a positive discipline approach
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English; effective communicator/ more than 2 languages will be benefit
  • A desire to take an active role in building strong working and team relationships: collaborative, supportive and communicative
  • Works flexibly and can adapt to accommodate changes in needs and priorities
  • Able to work proactively with initiative
  • Actively seeks to motivate and inspire students
  • Technology literate and experience teaching virtually desirable
  • Hardworking, enthusiastic and self-motivated
  • Willing to assist children with their daily personal needs
  • Able to actively supervise children on playground, in the classroom and in Specialist classes
  • Strong organization skills

Working Hours:              
  • Monday – Friday; 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (including 60-minutes for lunch); contractual time might be reduced to 7:15 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. (including 30-minutes for lunch).
  • (Working hours are flexible base on the need of the school)
